This diagram shows the tandem relationship of Ego and Soul as a function growing from Anima-Animus relations. In this formation, Resonant Consciousnss is the result of dynamic and constant interaction between the opposites. It stands in contrast to Ego (Animus) Inflation and Self (Anima) Inflation shown in the diagrams below the Syzygy. See Ego-Soul Analogies for what is associated with the two forces. Resonant Consciousness is, by definition, Androgynous.

     The following two diagrams are intended to show Ego Inflation and Self Inflation relative to the Szyzgy. Both conditions are indicative of psychic one-sidedness and represent conditions that preclude the qualities of Resonant Consciousness shown in the Syzygy. These conditions will be discussed in class at length.

      In either case of inflation, there is no resonant consciousness because the corresponding element of the tandem has been subsumed by the dominant partner. Consciousness in either case is very one-sided resulting in a rather one-dimensional view of reality. You should have already noticed the gender associations of ego and soul to the realm of the masculine and feminine respectively. Soul is universally considered feminine in its nature and ego as masculine in its nature. The term "self inflation" is used rather than the term "soul inflation" for several reasons, the primary one being that without ego there is little or no discrimination of soul possible, therefore what comes through are the unconscious contents of the self.
