Questions to Facilitate the Workplace Experience

  1. What is the primary purpose of the workplace enterprise?

  2. What aspect of that enterprise are you observing?

  3. What is the primary focus of that aspect?

  4. What is problematic that the personnel are dealing with?

  5. What concepts, principles, and ideas are being used to deal with the focus?

  6. What fields and disciplines are the sources of the knowledge?

  7. What are the connections or connecting points of the multiple knowledge realms?

  8. Diagram these connections.

  9. Is this knowledge taught in school? Where and when is it taught?

  10. How is the way in which it is taught similar or different from the way it is used in the workplace?

  11. Where did the personnel learn the knowledge they are using?

  12. What do they say about how that knowledge was taught in school?

  13. Do you think they are accurate in their responses? Why?

  14. How might the knowledge be taught more effectively in school?
