Subsidized Lunch Enrollment as a Predictor of District OPT Performance
This graph represents the findings regarding the association between the percent of a districts students enrolled in the subsidized lunch program and the percent of students passing the OPT. This variable shows a very strong correlation (r=-0.73) between enrollment in the school lunch program and the percent passing the OPT.
These data support strongly the findings that OPT test performance is primarily a function of non-school variables related to social-economic living conditions. As a predictor of OPT performance, the greater the percent enrolled in the subsidized lunch program predicts a lower percent of passing in the district.
